Stroker Red got their start in 2009, when lead singers/guitarists Grant “Stroker” Stoker and Chad “Red” Carlson began cutting their teeth at bars in Dekalb, Illinois. They soon rounded out the band with musicians of varying influences, ultimately giving Stroker Red their trademark edge and acoustic-driven rhythm.
Grant delivers captivating baritone vocals, topped off with a bit of a snarl. His deliberate rhythm guitar playing includes flourishes that add a valued layer to the overall Stroker Red sound. Grant’s musical influences include: Chris Stapleton, Jamey Johnson and Johnny Cash.
Aarron offers reliable rhythm through his competent bass playing. Whether laying down a clean, electric groove or riling up the band with an enthusiastic slap on the upright bass, Aarron keeps the Stroker Red boys in line, whether they know it or not. Aarron’s musical influences include: Hank Williams, David Allan Coe, Dwight Yoakam and Whitey Morgan and the 78s.
Trading lead vocal responsibilities with Grant, Chad offers a cannon of a voice that conveys a profound conviction and appreciation of country music. His driving rhythm guitar reinforces his passion. Chad’s musical influences include: Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Fred Eaglesmith.
Electric Bass/Upright Bass/ Backing Vocals
This guy is a shredder. Andy performs with masterful dexterity in his lead guitar picking, and he also pulls back on the reins to provide steady, electric rhythm. Those who have seen a Stroker Red show can surely attest to Andy’s energy and spot-on solos. Andy’s musical influences include: Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and Merle Haggard.
Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals
Mark is a skilled multi-instrumentalist who has found his home as Stroker Red’s drummer. Mark impresses with his energy and fills that compel his bandmates turn their heads and nod in respectful approval. His knowledge and skill as a musician make him a valued part the Stroker Red lineup. Mark’s musical influences include: Buddy Rich to Count Basie. Metallica to Michael Jackson. Rancid to Radiohead. And Willie Nelson to Wu tang clan. And everything in between.
